For as long as I can remember music has been a part of my life one way or another. Although I wasn’t always a musician, once I reached the skill level of being ready to play gigs, I realized my Marshall half stack wasn’t going to cut it as my amplification system for both my vocals and guitar (although I did try). Naturally buying a PA system was really my only next available option. I’ve been through a few different PA’s over the years. I started with Passive and then slowly moved to Active as I began to realize an all in one unit just simply made more sense for my needs. Having previous experience with PA systems I was recently given the opportunity to test an Electro-Voice ELX200-10P. I chose the 10” version because it was small enough, yet the frequency response looked proper for my application.

Yes, I’m a woman in the audio industry - a somewhat scarce phenomenon. But despite that, you could say I blend in well with the “passionate about audio”, “enjoying silly jokes” and “occasionally wearing a ponytail” guys. I have always enjoyed technology and science, and from all technical industries, I think audio is a bit of a special place. Here are the top 4 things that make me specifically enjoy the industry.

Located in suburban Akron, Ohio, Grace Church is a contemporary Christian church with eight locations. They sought a more musically coherent sound system to replace the aging point-source system in their main Bath Campus location. Integrator Kevin Root of Rootaudio saw the 620-seat sanctuary as an excellent candidate for a line-array system, and suggested Electro-Voice as a solution.

Being in the know is one thing. Being in the know on the right things is the real trick. Those of you who I have worked with, know that I am a bit of a gear skeptic and that I don’t beat around the bush. Those who I haven’t had the pleasure of working with yet can put me to the test with these selections and news. With the constant noise of new product releases, it can be hard to filter what is important and what is not.

East Race Muscle in South Bend, Indiana, started as a dream between partners Michael Baxter and Heath Lashmit. They formed a community around strength training which had outgrown their warehouse location. So they made the move to open a public gym, allowing them to expand their community and family. The mission statement was simple…

What is the best church line array system? That question can be answered in a number of ways. Anyone who tells you that “This is the best” without knowing the absolute needs of the facility does not understand audio. However, there is a way to cut through the options and take a great system, and know where it works best. Here we will look at the Electro-Voice EVA system so you can quickly know when this powerhouse system may truly be “Your best church line array.”

Not so long ago, a project I was working on was moving perfectly. Design, labor, pricing, and profit were all spot on. I crossed my T’s and dotted my I’s and then it happened. A shipping mistake from a vendor snowballed out of control. It wasn’t the first time, and I thought there was no way it could happen a second time but of course, it did.

Electro-Voice (Telex) has long been an innovator and leader in the wireless world, and the new RE3 lives up to that pedigree. This much-anticipated launch includes so many new features that simply changing the model number from RE2 to RE3 hardly does it justice.

Recently, I found myself taking stock: I have stepped out of the days of crates and cases of music, and now I am done lugging around huge dual fifteen-inch tops and eighteen-inch subs. After some extensive research, it was time to pull the trigger. I found myself asking: what can the EV Evolve 50 do for me?

A few months ago, I found myself needing to replace my pair of powered 15-inch speakers. I needed something that sounded great, was easy to transport, and looked sleek and professional. I want to walk you through each of my requirements, and let you know how the EV ZLX15P delivers on each one.

Why? This is the bigger brother to the EVIDC4.2 ceiling speakers. What is the big difference? Two times the size woofer. In the real world, this is an excellent sounding speaker that has a focused quality all the way down to 62 Hertz.

Do you install sound systems in Houses of Worship? Perhaps you configure sound systems into sports bars and restaurants? Do you ever tackle large projects like stadium and arena sound systems?
