Don’t Let These Issues Hose Your Next Project

Not so long ago, a project I was working on was moving perfectly. Design, labor, pricing, and profit were all spot on. I crossed my T’s and dotted my I’s and then it happened. A shipping mistake from a vendor snowballed out of control. It wasn’t the first time, and I thought there was no way it could happen a second time but of course, it did. My Dynacord amps were once again stuck in transit.

My amplifiers being delayed and not getting out caused a nightmare scenario. It took hours of backtracking hustle, a day of lost work, and many excuses and promises to clients to get it resolved. You know what I’m talking about, you have probably been there too.

I felt terrible. Even though I had no hand in the breakdown of mistakes, the feeling that I let my customers down was nauseating. I thought to myself, “I need a plan B option before the next job.”

Sure, not every problem can be controlled. But for key products and staples of your install diet, such as amplifiers that get used almost every day, the risk of mistakes and those costs add up. You like the products and are familiar with them so it can seem hard to jump ship if you will. That is how it always is for me.

It didn’t have to be. Be it the right place or the right time, while nursing my fresh wounds, a supplier told me about a product they had. In most cases, I would have blown it off as I was “usually” happy with what I had available. With the recent experience, however, I was open to suggestion.

I didn’t need to change the world or up end my goto business model. I simply gave them a try on my next project to see how their product and service worked out. They performed great, and suddenly I had a viable plan B for when things went wrong.

And that is why I tell you this story. There is an opportunity I see for amps, where both product quality and service levels are incredibly high and you have an amazing option for peace of mind. You don’t need to change all your habits, but in your own interest, giving these a test drive in your next project would be a worthwhile venture.
